The human being is an extremely great design.
● Physical aspects:
The human body is a wholly unified machine, made up of about 75,000 billion cells (Wikipedia).
The brain is the information processing center. It controls human physiological, psychological, and spiritual activities. The human brain consists of about 100 billion nerve cells, also called neurons, connected to more than 100 trillion points (Wikipedia) creating the basis of memory, emotions, thinking …
DNA is the unique genetic material found in the nucleus of cells. Each person’s DNA structure is mostly different. Among billions of people, no one is the same, so each person is a unique person.
On June 26, 2000, standing next to Francis S. Collins, Director of the human gene decoding program, President Bill Clinton announced to the world the work of mapping the human genome, a great scientific discovery, showing that this great design of human genes does not come naturally.
● Psychological aspects:
The difference between animals and humans is abstract perception, language ability and culture.
Blaise Pascal wrote, “Man is a thinking reed.” It is difficult to imagine thinking without language, without some abstracted concept. Language is formed through social experiences and culture.
So only humans qualify for the thinking to be formed: a suitably evolved body, an abstracted mind, an interactive society.
Human psychological life is extremely complex, formed through a combination of all instincts, biological emotions, memories, consciousness and unconsciousness, social relationships …
In addition, human psychological life is immeasurably rich due to its unlimited creativity. What people worry about today is that artificial intelligence, created by humans themselves, may be out of control and one day it may come back to destroy us. It’s extremely dangerous because it knows how to lie and trick even its boss.
● Spiritual aspects:
Humans are an open mechanism. Evolution is always open: from low to high, from simple to complex, from imperfect to perfect.
The characteristic of creativity is always open. Human psychological life is developing from ignorance to intelligence, from concrete instincts to abstract thinking.
In addition, humans are naturally endowed with a conscience. This is a characteristic of human society, making humans different from animals. Conscience tells us to do good and avoid evil, choosing for ourselves long-term benefits, instead of immediate benefits. This is the spiritual dimension that makes a person human.
Moral life also evolves from simplicity to clear consciousness, from selfishness to altruism.
When humans know how to overcome the surrounding ignorance, overcome the limits of animal instincts that only seek immediate benefits to listen to God’s invitation, they will have the opportunity to participate in the divine life, as Psalm 82 says, “Gods though you be, offspring of the Most High all of you” (Psalm 82, 6).
